Tools, space and measurements to prepare before you start

Plan the change as a small wet job, not as a dry electrical repair. Move food, shelves or the upper drawer only as far as needed to put one hand squarely on the cartridge head. Common faults after replacement and how to recover

If no water comes out after the cartridge is fitted, first dispense for 20 to 30 seconds with the door fully closed if your model has a door switch. Air can make the first flow uneven. If the dispenser still stays dry, remove and refit the cartridge, checking that it has reached the final locked position. Do not repeatedly force the lever for several minutes, because some dispenser valves heat slightly when held open for too long.
