Prepare the area before you remove the old cartridge. The job normally takes 10 to 15 minutes, but allow another 10 minutes if the filter cover is stiff or the fridge has not been moved for a long time.

Use a dry towel large enough to cover about 40 cm by 40 cm under the filter area, because a small amount of trapped water can drain out when the seal breaks.
